This is Banshee the Barn Owl!
I've been treating Banshee for a while now. Previously, we were treating her for a droopy wing due to having been hit by a car in the past (hence her being in captivity). After treatment, Banshee was able to get to high perches, but still not sustain the flight needed to hunt properly in the wild, so Banshee can not, unfortunately, be released back into the wild. The great news is that she is now a working owl! She helps the folks at Perch educate us about birds of prey!
(Side note: if you like wine and have an interest in birds of prey, I recommend checking out Wings over Wine - Perch rehabilitates injured birds and then host a wine party so that everyone can have the chance to witness them being released back into the wild! Cue the need for tissues!)
Currently, we're treating Banshee because she started losing her balance, and was having trouble righting herself. She also seemed depressed - not as active and not as feisty as she normally is.
I'm happy to report that her balance is MUCH improved after just 1 treatment and she's back to her spunky self!
